The PEACE Project offers a variety of opportunities to members of the community who would like to partner with us in ensuring that our students are provided with an exceptional education. This includes:
We have very high expectations for students and families in The PEACE Project. PEACE is rewarding and exciting. PEACE is also intense and requires a serious commitment from the student and family. Students will need to demonstrate a very high level of responsibility and personal discipline! This is in part because students will be provided with an expensive and high-quality laptop computer, and they will be working with professionals in the real world. In addition, students will be going on numerous field trips each month. PEACE students will complete a short and enjoyable summer assignment. We may have events in the evenings, though these are rare. Families are responsible for attending the PEACE Orientation in September and four planning meetings throughout the year. Families are strongly encouraged to attend research presentations.
Students are admitted to PEACE based on three criteria: discipline, desire, and dedication. We seek to admit students who are not meeting their fullest potential in traditional school. This might mean that they are excelling, but looking for more challenge. Or, it may mean that students aren't finding success in traditional school, and an alternative situation might help them to succeed. Students are not evaluated on academic history, so all should apply, regardless of their grades. We are seeking students from a diversity of backgrounds, and we are admitting students from all grade levels. If you have questions, please stop by the PEACE room or call us to speak with one of the students, or Brett, the Leader and Facilitator. Our phone is 215-557-8555 x214.
